RBC Wealth Management Quality Engineering team is continuing to expand as part of our commitment to providing the best solutions for our clients.
What is the opportunity?
As part of that growth, we are hiring Senior Quality Engineers - SDET in Calgary (Hybrid office structure). As part of the Core QE teams, you will design and develop automation solutions to enable RBC Wealth Management Quality Engineering product teams to solve their testing problems through the implementation of automation framework, features, integration, best practices, the use of tools and technology, and by applying analytical and troubleshooting skills to unblock the Quality Engineering community. You are a technical specialist focusing delivering solutions, framework features, coaching and enablement to the QE function and providing technical support in your area of expertise.
What will you do?
- Support the QE Director in achieving their strategic goals for the QE Team by providing technical support to the team
- Accountable to provide subject matter expertise on test case architecture and design
- Supports leadership in the execution of operational frameworks, processes and tools, and utilization of organizational change management practices to drive support and empower staff in assigned unit
- Contribute to solutions in area of expertise including test automation framework development, tools integrations, DevOps integration, and troubleshooting framework related issues
- Supports the implementation of QE Program and overall QE process and standards through optimized test case architecture and automation in portfolio
- Responsible to solve complex technical problems within and between various technology stacks
- Responsible for technical coaching, mentoring, training and day to day interaction with a team of QE practitioners
- Effectively communicates and builds rapport with team members, stakeholders and business partners using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close
- Ability to work under pressure to meet sometimes aggressive deadlines
Must-have
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a QA/test environment with a focus on technical, automated testing in a variety of environments (Web, Windows, Mainframe, databases and services/APIs)
- Hands-on programming experience (e.g., Java / C / C++ / Python, SQL DB querying)
- Hands-on experience in developing and implementing test automation frameworks
- Experience in a variety of test automation frameworks/tools e.g., (unit test frameworks, SoapUI, Selenium, Appium, UFT/Lean UFT/RestAssured/Robot Framework, TestNG) and script development using scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Python, Bash, etc.)
- Expert in leading test case design to provide efficient optimal coverage though unit test, component/service based tests and complex “real life” test scenarios
- Expert knowledge of industry practices with focus on Agile, DevOps, environments and test integration
- Experience in DevOps Testing to support Continuous Testing
- Experience using source configuration tools such as GIT, SVN, E11 etc.
- Experience working with various frameworks Agile or Iterative Waterfall Software Development Lifecycle
- Excellent communication skills and effective negotiation skills
- Ability to influence teams to manage technical changes (process, tools, etc.) within program/project/ecosystem
- Computer Engineering, Computer Science, related (technical) degree/diploma

- ISTQB Certified Agile Tester
- ISTQB Advanced Level Technical Test Analyst (CTAL-TTA)
- ASTQB Certified Mobile Tester
- Wealth/Portfolio Management domain knowledge
- Experience using test case optimization tools such as ConformIQ, Hexawise, etc.
