Westpro Machinery Inc. is an innovative Canadian Mineral Processing Technology Company with 35+ years of experience in the mineral processing industry. Utilizing a team of experienced engineers, Westpro designs and manufactures a full range of mineral processing equipment. Westpro also develops turnkey modular process plants with complete process design and equipment package. Through Westpro's Contract Services Division, the Company provides full equipment service including manufacturing, installation, commissioning, inspection, and spare parts.

The Company has an immediate opening for a Buyer.

Responsibilities

• Understand at a high level sourcing, pricing and specifications for steel and drive line components, including motors, bearings, gear reducers couplings, hardware, etc.

• Prepare professional standard purchase requisitions to include key purchasing provisions and documentation.

• Understand at a high level transit insurance, packing/crating requirements and customs clearance.

• Understand, at a high-level, freight delivery/shipping requirements.

• Manage and restock spare parts inventory data base and warehouse storage.

• Analyze Suppliers in order to select the most suitable Suppliers who are able to deliver high quality products at competitive pricing.

• Negotiate with Suppliers on lead-time, cost and quality so as to obtain the maximum benefit for the Company.

• Manage Suppliers and open orders to meet objectives related to schedule and performance.

• Visit local Suppliers

• Analyze bills of material and drawings to understand key requirements.

• Review and manage the Supplier base to ensure consistency with the sourcing strategy.

• Understanding component functionality.

• Work with the current supply base to minimize cost, while achieving target pricing on products.

• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Certifications

• Mechanical Technologist Diploma, or equivalent technical experience

• PMAC or SCMP designation preferred

Experience and Skills

• 2 - 5 years as a Buyer purchasing steel, gear reducers, couplings, bearings etc.

• Excellent computer skills required, including high level Excel and Word skills.

• Excellent communication, time management and multitasking skills required.

• Versatile, highly motivated, self-starter able to plan, organize and work with a team.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
