RCMP Office Assistant III: Exhibit Custodian (Full-time/Permanent)

Under the direction of the Office Manager, the Office Assistant III/Exhibit Custodian is responsible for providing excellent customer service, general clerical support, and handling and disposing of exhibits according to policy.

Responsibilities
- Ensure exhibits are properly labeled prior to moving them from the temporary locker to the main locker.
- Update PROS to reflect property movement.
- Enter firearms into the PAIN System when received, updating PROS with the FIN number, and disposing of firearms in the PAIN system.
- Dispose of exhibits as per court order or direction from member.
- Forward HCSC form to Health Canada when drugs are disposed of.
- Dispose of drug exhibits as per policy.
- Monitor exhibit task queue in PROS.
- Prepare exhibits for shipping to the laboratory for testing by following proper procedures.
- Liaise with municipal enforcement in dealing with exhibits that are sent for auction.
Education, qualifications, and work experience
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalency.
- Must have a valid class 5 licence.
- Must be able to maintain a RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance.
- Experience in handling exhibits would be an asset.
- Ability to manually lift, sort, arrange, and store exhibit and property items of varying bulk and of considerable weight.
- Good understanding of computer software programs.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain law enforcement databases, including PROS.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a stressful environment under minimal supervision.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with coworkers, members, and supervisors.
- Knowledge of procedures, practices, and standards for the safe and correct handling and processing of exhibits.
