The Early Learning and Childcare Services team is responsible for the licensing and monitoring of licensed early learning and childcare facilities as well as investigations of licensed early learning and childcare facilities and unlicensed operators.

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) is seeking an individual to join the Early Learning and Childcare Services branch in the Fredericton region, in the position of Quality Assurance Monitor.

What you will do:

Reporting to the Manager of Early Learning and Childcare, the main responsibilities of this position will be to monitor compliance and support early learning and childcare facilities in achieving and exceeding requirements of the Early Childhood Services Act and Licensing Regulation, with the objective of ensuring the safety, security and well-being of children in care and enhancing quality of services.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide guidance and assistance to applicants at initial licensing and operators at annual renewal.
  • Conduct unannounced, on-site monitoring inspections of early learning and childcare facilities.
  • Collaborate with operators, educators and Early Learning Consultants.
  • Provide support to investigations which includes making recommendation to the Early Learning and Childcare Investigator/Inspector and Manager.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with partners and stakeholders including the Departments of Social Development, Justice and Public Safety, early learning and childcare operators, parents and municipalities.
  • Maintain records.
  • Liaise with departmental consultants.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

Work environment:

  • Office location: Marysville Place, Fredericton.
  • Consists of field work within the Fredericton region.
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30, although some work outside these hours may be required.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Social Sciences or a related field and a minimum of four (4) years related experience, where (2) years should be in early childhood; including interpretation and reinforcement of legislation.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in Englishis required. Please state your language capability.

Nice to have:

  • Interpretation and reinforcement of legislation and/or conducting inspections.
  • Experience and knowledge in early childhood programs and services.
  • Certificate of Completion - NB Early Learning and Child Care Curriculum Framework.

Operational requirements:

  • Possession of a valid class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick is also required and own use of transportation.
  • Travel within the province.

Wage:
$53,456 to $74,776 annually.
