QA/QC Inspector Job at Aarkel Tool and Die Inc.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to and under the direction of the Quality Control Lead/Manager, this position is responsible for:
1. The programming and operating of Co-ordinate Measuring Machines (C.M.M.), used to verify the dimensional accuracy of moulds, dies, component parts, electrodes, fixtures, plastic injection and die cast parts according to CAD data, and tool/part print specifications.
2. The recording of inspection results and the preparation and distribution of reports pertaining to such inspection results.
3. The programming and operating of the Scanner used to verify dimensional accuracy as stated above and the recording of inspection results and the preparation and distribution of reports pertaining to such inspection results.
4. The manual inspection of dies, components etc. All inspections as noted on the QC Manual Report/Corrections Book. Measurement of holes, depths and diameters, threads and thread depths, engraving requirements, ball nose, drill point or flat bottom hole requirements, visual inspections looking for various defects, cutter violations, rads not polished, damaged threads, waterline holes free from burrs and chips, hole counts, polished per the standards or as specified in customer prints or standards.
5. The recording of inspection results and the preparation and distribution of reports pertaining to such inspection results.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The position of Quality Control Inspector is an hourly-rated position with an average workweek consisting of 44 hours per week. The work is performed on a two shift rotational basis. Overtime work as required.
Minimum education level required is Grade 12 or equivalent. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience running Co-ordinate Measuring Machines, coupled with experience in the trade of mould making is preferable.
Must be able to program and run CMM machines, and Scanners, be able to operate CAD system, have clear and legible writing, have good work attendance; be able to communicate effectively both in verbal and written form.
Must be capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, part prints/drawings. Knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerance (G. D. & T.) required. Must possess a “hands-on” skill set in programmable CMM machines – pc dimis software, Polyworks software.
JOB DUTIES
1. Programs and operates Co-Ordinate Measuring Machines and Scanners to verify dimensional accuracy of moulds, dies, component parts, electrodes, fixtures, plastic injection and die cast parts according to CAD data and tool/part print specifications.
2. Uses hand held measuring devices such as micrometers (inside, outside, & depth), Vernier’s, height gauges, gauge pins and radius gauges to check and verify dimensions and/or specifications.
3. Operates the Company ERP System according to the requirements. Punches in and out when arriving and leaving the premises. Logs into the correct job and operation. Closes out the job when complete.
4. Operates CAD system to generate programs for CMM or Scanner or retrieve information from CAD files.
5. Records inspection results on standard forms or sketches.
6. Prepares and distributes inspection reports pertaining to the various items inspected after review of such information with the department manager.
7. Files reports, blueprints, drawings and computer data as required.
8. Performs routine machine maintenance.
9. Operates overhead crane system using chains, eye bolts, etc. as necessary to move moulds/dies, or other items into or out of the Quality Control Department inspection and machine area.
10. Cleans moulds/dies, etc. as required before such item enter into the Quality Control Department in order to prevent or reduce to a minimum any contamination from entering the quality environment.
11. Maintains the department in a clean an orderly state at all times.
12. Communicates information to customers pertaining to the customer's job from a quality aspect but only after authorization from the Quality Control Department Leader or other senior member of management.
13. Trains new employees as directed.
14. Use the equipment, protective devices or clothing as required by the Company.
15. Report the absence of, or defect in any equipment or protective devices that may endanger anyone, and report any known contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act or the Regulations.
16. Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Regulations.
17. Logs into ERP on a daily basis, as to job number, assembly, and operation performed.
18. Other duties as assigned by Senior Management.
