We are seeking a conscientious professional with excellent communication skills and tax knowledge to work as a tax preparer and consultant to our clients. As our clientele includes a large proportion of self-employed people, our season runs until June 15.

This position is suited for fully-remote work.

We are a boutique tax preparation company with over 20 years of experience and an excellent reputation. Our speciality is the growing field of tax preparation for entrepreneurs, sole proprietors, freelancers and other self-employed people. As the gig economy grows, so does our clientele.

We offer one-on-one meetings with every client, getting to know them and cultivating relationships that last for years. We are looking for new members of the team to work with clients preparing tax returns, providing information, and dealing compassionately with their concerns.

About the position

Perks: This opportunity is available as fully work-from-home, with some flexibility in determining your hours. Client meetings are held exclusively by phone or video chat. No members of the public enter our offices, and you will be able to carry out most if not all your responsibilities remotely.

Paid, on-the-job training: We take training and professional development seriously. More than a job, this position is designed to broaden your tax knowledge and professional client services skills.

If selected, you will be trained and mentored by an experienced tax professional who will also be available as a resource throughout your employment with us. You will develop skills required to complete income tax returns and GST/HST returns for self-employed people, and how to apply a knowledge of tax laws to obtain the best results for taxpayers.

Qualifications: Knowledge of personal tax fundamentals (e.g., completing tax returns with T4 slips, RRSP contributions, medical and childcare receipts) is essential to start.

Candidates should have a track record of strong problem-solving ability, an urge to help people, and the willingness to take responsibility for projects in their care. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience as a tax preparer, or tax training plus experience in a customer service role.

Compensation: ~$25hr, starting pay, depending on skills, experience and performance; 15-30 hrs per week depending on demand and your availability.
