Note: These are regular part-time Support positions (up to 24 hours per week) starting May 1, 2023. Part-time Support Staff employees, as defined by the part-time Support Staff Collective Agreement, will be given first consideration.

Duties: Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, International Enrollment and Business Process Solutions, the Part-time International Student Support Officer aids stakeholders in-person, as well as through email, phone, and live chat. Inquiries range from specific details about a student’s personal record to general immigration-related matters to program availability and health insurance coverage. Incumbent provides admission support, processes applications for admission, and assists with arrival services and refund processing at peak times.

Responds to inquiries from students, parents, agents, community members, and internal contacts within the College Community, in compliance with the regulations of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). Processes applications for admission for all English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programs and full-time post-secondary programs, ensuring that inquiries are responded to and decisions are conveyed according to the industry standard response time of 48 hours. If ineligible to program of choice, provides alternate offer for consideration.
Assesses and determines international education equivalency and eligibility by evaluating international Secondary School, College and University academic documents to determine validity of the institution and credentials for program eligibility. Ensures the applicant has completed the program specific requirements (i.e. supplemental forms, portfolios), records departmental decisions on re-admission and documents compliance to these requirements. Receives, evaluates, and verifies test results for authenticity, including IELTS, TOEFL and CAEL English language assessments.

Generates letters of admission for international applicants, ensuring that the correct conditions are communicated to the applicant, including admission conditions that must be met prior to the start of classes and deposit requirements and timelines, based on country of citizenship and immigration-specific requirements. Ensures compliance with study permit regulations and the College’s Designated Learning Institution status by ensuring that students have a valid immigration status prior to start of term.
Responsible for monitoring statistics for their assigned regions (number of applications, offers issued, enrollment conversion, payments received, applicants in a confirmed status) to meet pre-determined region-specific enrolment and diversity targets for the College without exceeding capacity. Provides ongoing market support to in-country representative/s agents, applicants and students in person, by phone, email, and live chat. Reports on inquiry trends to inform current and future market activity.

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary 2-year diploma in a related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ recent and relevant experience
  • Knowledge of general office procedures
  • Written and verbal communication skills to express ideas clearly, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
  • Computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs along with basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and strong keyboarding skills
  • Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
  • Ability to follow formal business practices with high attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
  • Adapts readily and effectively to changing priorities and demands
  • Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and resolve external and internal partner issues
