Parks Attendant (Student) Job at New Tecumseth
Reporting to the Supervisor, Parks and Open Spaces, and guided by the Senior Parks Operator, this position assists with parks maintenance, grass cutting, horticulture maintenance, and Conservation area maintenance during the summer months.
Parks Attendants are assigned to assist in an area of parks maintenance including grass
cutting, changing garbage and litter pick-up, cleaning washrooms, ball diamond
maintenance, horticulture and Conservation area maintenance.
Responsibilities:
Help maintain and repair parks and sports fields, including grooming baseball diamonds, grass cutting activities, cleaning washroom facilities, emptying garbages, and vandalism/graffiti maintenance on outdoor facilities, park equipment and buildings.
Opening and closing outdoor facilities daily.
Assist in maintenance, grooming and inspection logs for Town’s trail systems.
Inspect and log splashpads, pavilions and skateparks daily.
Sign in campers, daytime users, daily/weekend campers and seasonal campers. Clean fire pits, take water samples, maintain washrooms and garbage, groom beach, minor tree trimming, assist in grass cutting and enforce conditions of use at TCA.
Assist in event set up and take down, as well as working as event support.
Assist Parks Operators with maintenance activities.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Requires a minimum Class G2 driver’s licence, and ability to submit a clean driver’s abstract upon hire
Must be at a minimum attending secondary school
Some prior work experience required. Previous grass-cutting, custodial, and/or maintenance experience would be an asset.
The successful candidate must have the ability to align with established goals and objectives and is able to create/follow plans and processes accordingly to deliver task and goal completion to a high standard. Salary : $15.50 - $16.34 (2022 rates), plus 4% vacation pay
Hours : 40 hours per week (April - August) - includes rotational weekend shifts
