Position Summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our OT department.
In accordance with established vision and values of Northern Health, the Occupational Therapist performs assessments and interventions related to patients' occupational performance according to established Occupational Therapy practices and national provincial college standards. The occupational therapist works as a team member under the general supervision of the Lead Occupational Therapist of the OT department. This position rotates between acute physical/medical inpatient wards and outpatient services. The Occupational Therapist works independently and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to promote functional independence and enable the client to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes.
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days; Monday to Friday; 08:00 to 16:00, 07:30 to 15:30
University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) is the largest acute care facility (268 beds) in Northern Health and is the hub for specialized health services. It is a full service hospital and home to a new cancer centre for Northern BC, including a wide range of cancer treatments. Provides undergraduate physician training through the Northern Medical Program, run by the University of British Columbia and University of Northern British Columbia. UHNBC is also a key clinical education site for nursing and many health sciences students at UNBC, the College of New Caledonia, BCIT and other institutions.

Qualifications
Skills and Abilities:
Teaching: Ability to teach clients and others both one-on-one and in groups.

Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively. Applies the problem-solving process demonstrating critical thinking and decision-making skills using a systems approach.
Management: Demonstrated ability to organize work, set objectives and establish priorities. Manages time and resources, implements activities to promote cooperation among the interdisciplinary team, supervises responsibilities of others, and collaborates across disciplines.
Leadership: Promotes staff morale, engagement, and risk-taking. Demonstrates creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self and others.
Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of client care.
Equipment: Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Windows based programs. Demonstrated data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools. Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing. Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.
