• Performs, reports and distributes laboratory tests according to departmental policies and procedures in all laboratory disciplines performed by the site
• Performs, prepares and reviews internal and external quality control reports
• Tracks missing specimens and reports and completes appropriate documentation
• Performs basic maintenance of equipment including cleaning and disinfection
• Reports problems concerning equipment, quality control and test procedures to the
• Supervisor if unable to solve the original problem
• Ensures safe work environment, infection control and general care and cleanliness of the laboratory department
• Identifies unusual or abnormal laboratory results and notifies the proper authority
• such as supervisor, physician or pathologist as appropriate
• Reports errors, incidents and accidents and completes appropriate documentation
• Maintains and records statistics and files as required
• Actively participates in department efficiency projects
• Participates in quality assurance actives such as internal/external survey’s
• Actively seeks continuing education opportunities to maintain and develop professional skills and knowledge
• Operates, calibrates and performs basic troubleshooting of all instrumentation and reports equipment malfunction
• Assists supervisor or designate in maintaining adequate inventory of materials and supplies

• Must have experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist in Microbiology within the last two (2) years or student practical training as a Medical Laboratory Technologist in Microbiology within the last two (2) years
• Recent Kiestra experience is an asset

Minimum Qualifications

• Medical Laboratory Technologist (CSMLS) with current CMLTA registration or eligible for registration
