Job Opportunity:

We are looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Designer to design the mechanical portion of custom automation equipment to client and IAI specifications, using research techniques, combined with various outside sources of information, to create and verify the design.

What you’ll do:

  • Create and complete the mechanical design and detailing of fixtures, jigs, and smaller machines.
  • Complete the design of larger and more technically complex projects
  • Assists other designers with the mechanical design and detailing of larger systems
  • Complete “as built” drawing updates on machinery and review updates/changes with the other departments when required
  • Communicate project concerns, project status, and design solutions with management, fellow staff, and clients
  • Meet with design management and sales representative to evaluate the design to ensure all design requirements are met
  • Work in conjunction with the other members of the team, such as the electrical designer and the mechanical assembler/developer during all stages of machine design/build
  • Present the design to the client and acquire client signoff to proceed with detailing and manufacturing
  • Complete all required machine build drawings (drafting)
  • Generate Bill of Materials (BOM) for both purchased parts and raw manufactured materials as required
  • Assists other personnel during the equipment build to observe and monitor how the build is progressing
  • Create and maintain efficiency in the design process
  • Utilize technical knowledge and experience to produce superior designs
  • Occasional travel as required globally

What you’ll need:

  • Minimum Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent Specialized Experience
  • Minimum 2-5 years of designing custom Industrial Automation machines
  • Good understanding of assembly processes, pneumatics, and control system basics
  • Proficiency with Solidworks
  • Ability to lift weights reaching 50lbs, carry weights reaching 40lbs, and push and pull weights reaching 100-150lbs
