Mechanic Shop Foreman Job at Shield Foundation Repair Inc.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Mechanic Shop Foreman is primarily responsible for ensuring the workshop and vehicle fleet are well maintained and structured to deliver and receive tools, materials, equipment and supplies as required. The primary component of this role is to service vehicles and organize repairs as required.
Responsibilities
(A) Vehicle/Fleet and Equipment Maintenance
- Responsible for inspecting tools and equipment for defects and wear and reporting damage to the Project Manager to ensure remediation and cost management. This includes repairing and servicing tools and equipment to lessen field downtime.
- Responsible for repairs, servicing, and lubricating tools and equipment.
- Servicing, repairing and maintaining the fleet of vehicles on Ford's, Chevy's, Dodge's, and utility trailers.
- Ensure that vehicle paperwork is being filled out by crews and filed for COR and CVIP.
(B) Shop Organization
- Responsible for receiving, storing, and organizing tooling, hand tools, supplies, materials, and equipment for crew employees.
- Responsible for receiving, unpacking, and storing incoming tools, equipment, and stock requisitions to replenish inventory.
- Responsible for ensuring the shop and yard’s environment is organized, maintained to ensure health and safety standards are always kept in check.
- Work with Crew leaders to ensure crews and trucks are equipped; deliver tools and supplies to site as required.
- Responsible for issuing tooling, hand tools, machine tools, materials, and supplies to crew employees to ensure a one-way trip to the site. This includes building and maintaining a crew preparation program before and after the shift.
- Responsible for maintaining records of tools and equipment issued and returned.
(C) Inventory Management
- Responsible for preparing periodic inventory or maintaining a perpetual list of tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Responsible for organizing and labeled all cabinets and shelves per “part” number.
- Work with vendors to establish clear expectations for quote turnaround and delivery lead times upon approval from the Field Operations Manager.
Education, Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 10 years working as a qualified vehicle mechanic.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working and managing a warehouse/workshop and tool crib.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and vehicle maintenance is mandatory.
- Experience working in a Construction warehouse/workshop is a significant asset.
- Welding experience is an asset
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 – MS Word and Excel.
- Proficient driving with and pulling trailers.
- Skid steer experience is an asset.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
