Reporting to the Manager, Community Connections, you will assist in delivering our very popular Summer Reading Club program at the Lynn Valley Library.
What you’ll be doing
Aspects of the role will include:

- Registering children for Summer Reading Club
- Assisting with promotion, displays and programming
- Interacting with children on return visits
- Other library duties
What you’ll need to succeed:
- be registered in the Young Canada Works online candidate inventory and meet program eligibility criteria; please refer to: www.young-canada-works.canada.ca
- are enthusiastic about reading and can model reading as an enjoyable & preferable activity
- are a university student who enjoys working with children of all ages;
- are approachable and willing to try different ways of engaging children
It’s great if you:
- work well as part of a team and can share and implement creative ideas;
- have some knowledge of children’s literature and are looking to gain more;
- can impart the same information over & over again with the same passion & enthusiasm;
- like to have fun at work.
Enrolment in Library School, Library Technician program, or a faculty of Education would be an asset, as would proficiency with Excel, Google Docs, Publisher and other current technologies.
The hourly pay rate for this unionized position starts at $21.69, based on a 35-hour workweek. This work requires flexible availability, including evenings and weekend shifts. The position is for June 13 – August 19, 2023.
Offer of employment is dependent upon confirmation of funding.
