Intermediate Software Developer (C#, Visual Studio) Job at Marine Learning Systems

Marine Learning Systems Vancouver, BC

We have a full-time intermediate developer position open to be filled immediately. You are free to work remotely or from our Vancouver office located on Granville Island. Preference will be given to applicants living and working in Canada.

At Marine Learning Systems, we do interesting work that helps keep people safe in safety-critical environments. We have created a distributed application keeping its databases in synch over unreliable, high-latency, low bandwidth networks. So, you will grow here as part of our team - sharing your own expertise while learning from other team members (our CTO has a Ph.D. in Computer Science, and our founder was a Comp Sci faculty member at UBC). What we care about most is that you are a friendly person who will contribute to our great environment. What we care about just as much is that you are smart, like challenges, and love to code.

Our company is growing quickly and is focused on developing software products that help manage training and assessment to help ensure that organizations are maximizing operational safety. Our initial focus has been in the maritime industry. Our client list is growing and includes well known customers in Canada, United States and Europe. Names you will know - like Disney, the Canadian Navy, BC Ferries, Carnival Cruise Lines, Washington State Ferries, the Canadian Coast Guard, and many others. It is fantastic to be part of a growing company - lots of exciting things happening all the time.

Although sometimes we work hard, we have a great respect for work/life balance. Working more than 40 hours a week is an extreme rarity here. In my humble opinion, this is a great place to work with very friendly people, great customers, and a fun challenges. Oh - and word on the street is that the boss is a terrific guy, if I do say so myself : -)

What we are looking for:

  • Someone intelligent, efficient, energetic, and well organized
  • Having a friendly attitude and a positive outlook are a must!
  • Someone who loves to work on a wide variety of tasks
  • Clear spoken and written communication skills in English
  • Able to write elegant code

Your education and experience:

  • A 4-year university computer science degree
  • 3+ years of software development experience
  • Experience with C#, MVC 4+, Entity Framework and Castle/Windsor are desirable

Pay will be negotiated, but in the range appropriate to intermediate positions. There is also a stock option plan, so our company's success becomes your personal success. We are hiring now and plan to hire the first person who we think are a great fit. If you are interested, please apply with your resume and cover letter. Please include any additional information about you that you believe will make us think you are the perfect addition to our team!

Can't wait to meet you!
