Installation Technician - Telecommunications

Position Summary:

WaveStar Networks is seeking Installation Technicians and Team Leads to join our Eastern team who'll provide services to Datacentre/Telecom/Industrial users (perform installation, testing and maintenance of servers/routers/switches/storage/transport telecommunications equipment and connectivity).

Salary: $20 - $28/hr

Responsibilities:

• Perform installation, testing and maintenance of various types of Datacentre / Central-Office / Cable-Headend telecommunications equipment.
• Structured cabling including cutting, running, tying and crimping ethernet, switchboard, coaxial, fiber and power cabling.
• Install/Move/Add/Remove network servers, carrier grade switches, routers, storage and transport gear
• Planning, installation, test and commissioning and removal of BDFB’s, ironwork, DC cabling, fuse panel, circuit-breaker, liquid cell batteries and power rectifiers.
• Perform live cutovers to new or existing equipment.

Qualifications:

• A good mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of the use of simple hand tools, power tools and complicated specialty tools.
• General knowledge of equipment in common use in Datacentre/Telecom/Cable and remote sites, including installation, test and commissioning.
• Knowledge of ancillary equipment used in telecom installations, including but not limited to cables, connectors, steel work and other consumables that are used on a daily basis.
• Flexible and adaptable. Demonstrate the capability to be able to multi-task and accommodate a variety of assignments at various locations on a day-to-day basis.
• Own vehicle to commute to job site as some locations can be remote.
• Able and willing to travel as required for varying periods of time, often with short notice.
• Able to interpret Telecommunication Blueprints, Schematics and Specs and able to install equipment to specification.
• Able to interact with customer on-site personnel on job specific activities.
