Role
Writing-on-Stone/ Áísínai’pi is a UNESCO World Heritage Sites and boasts a wide array of services for visitors. The unique landscape of this site contrast the surrounding prairie landscape, making it an exciting destination for campers and day users alike.
Information Officers provide strong customer service to visitors and campers. They provide clean, clear communications for local wayfinding and travel information. Successful candidates possess strong computer skills to operate point of sale and camping reservation systems and to update local signage around the park.
Information Officers duties include, but are not limited to, the day-to-day operations of facilities including the Visitor Centre and Camp Store. Daily tasks include opening and closing procedures, till close-outs and reception duties. Information Officers provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors in-person, over the phone or online. Successful candidates have strong time management skills, attention to detail and work well under pressure. Ideal candidates also possess strong conflict resolution skills to manage customer complaints and facilitate feedback.
Information Officers promote and sell tickets to programs and events as well as manage equipment and/or facility rentals. They support special events, and the daily dissemination of information between the public and other staff at the park. They also support light cleaning and sanitization of high-touch areas as well as cleaning support of staff washroom common areas.
Knowledge of natural or cultural history, archaeology and Blackfoot history and culture is considered an asset for these positions – please indicate your experience or training in your resume.
About Your Work Environment
Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park is located 30 minutes from the closest community of Milk River. Onsite, fully furnished accommodations are available for rent.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma; equivalencies will be considered
Additional Requirements:
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Additional Assets:
- Post-secondary education in related field
- Knowledge of Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park
- Knowledge of tourism services and experiences available within the region
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on providing clear and accurate information for park visitors
- Strong writing skills and proven ability to write, edit, and evaluate materials for public audiences
- Knowledge of retail operations and computerized point of sale systems
- Experience conducting retail/cash/debit/credit transactions
- Exceptional knowledge of and experience in computer use and a variety of computer software (including but not limited to Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher)
- WHMIS 2015 Certification
- May also be required: Standard First Aid and CPR level C + AED
- Knowledge in the operation of varied A/V equipment

Salary
Effective Jan 1, 2023 rates will be $20.05 - $24.22 per hour
Shift premiums:
- $3.25 for weekends and holidays
- $2.75 for evenings
Wage employees receive 11.2% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of benefits and vacation leave.
- 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
- 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
Notes
- Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week.
- Evenings, weekends and holiday hours may be required.
- A recent Driver’s Abstract with less than 8 demerits (less than 4 for GDL) required prior to commencement.
- Successful candidates also require a recent defensive driving course (within three years).
- Final candidates may require a criminal record check.
- Onsite accommodations are available for rent.
- Positions commences January 9th and ends March 31st, 2023
