Silhouette currently is searching for experienced Industrial Painters to join the team in Abbotsford! We are looking for TEAM PLAYERS in a fast paced, but family-oriented environment.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, filling nail holes and cracks, and sanding rough spots to smooth the area for painting;

• Remove old paint coatings by wire brushing, blasting with water or sand, sanding or applying solvents or heat to strip it off;

• Estimate the quantity of material required by measuring surfaces or reviewing a work order;

• Use brushes, rollers or spray guns to apply liquid coatings such as paint, stain or varnish to surfaces of metal or wood;

• Apply undercoat primer or sealer before painting;

• Apply finishes that are sponged, ragged and layered Inspect tools and work area for hazards before commencing work;

• Follow instructions from Supervisor as required.

• Follow the company safety program rules, regulations, policies and procedures;

Willingness to cross train in different trades to support project transitions including:

• Perform cleaning functions throughout the fabrication shop.

• Perform cleaning on weldments and materials using a grinder

• Transport materials using a forklift and/or overhead crane. (Upon Certification)

• Load and unload transport vehicles as required

• Assist welders, fabricators, shipper/receiver, painters, and finishers as required.

• Sort materials and organize shop and yard.

• Cut materials to specified dimensions using a band saw.

• Drill materials to specified dimensions using a drill press.

• Other duties as required

This position will work in the Prep/Paint Bay and report to the Fabrication and & Mechanical Foreman.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 Diploma (preferred)
• 3-5 years of industrial painting experience
• Ability to read both metric and imperial tape measures
• Ability to read and interpret spec sheets
• Knowledge of work safety with solvents, paints, various paints, and compounds
• Red Seal Industrial Painter an asset

OCCUPATIONAL AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift and/or move up 25-50lbs
• Ability to spend up to 10 hours a shift standing on your feet
• Ability to climb ladders, as needed
• Ability to bend, kneel, squat, push, reach above and below waits.

SCHEDULE

• Day Shift: Mon-Thurs 6am - 3:30pm, Fri 6am-2pm, every other Fri off.

• Afternoon Shift: Mon to Thurs 3:30pm - 1:30 am.
• Potential Future Weekend Shifts
• Ability to work overtime as needed to complete projects.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $22.00-$32.00 per hour
