Position Overview
In the role of Housekeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of health, safety and cleanliness required by the Interval Home, while working in a congregate living emergency shelter. As a member of the Shelter Team, you will contribute to effective teamwork as you work independently to ensure shelter cleaning tasks are completed.
You must possess a high level of professionalism, as the position involves interactions with clients, who are accessing emergency support in relation to family violence. Your friendly, energetic personality will contribute to a positive work environment as will your demonstrated ability to be flexible and multi-task oriented.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES
· Maintain a high standard of health, cleanliness, and safety within the home by monitoring physical cleanliness and potential safety concerns on an ongoing basis.
· Completes general household duties (i.e., cleaning all areas of shelter, house laundry, and general maintenance as required)
· Excellent time-management, decision making and organizational skills.
· Coordinate, organize and complete household and cleaning projects as per the weekly, monthly, and yearly cleaning checklists.
Organize and clean storage spaces and closets on an ongoing basis.
· Demonstrated history of strong work ethic, reliability, and independent work.
Qualifications and Experience
· Experience in housekeeping and facility maintenance are an asset
· Valid WHMIS Certificate
· Criminal/vulnerable Record Check and Intervention Check are required
· A clean valid driver’s license with a minimum of three years driving and insurance history are necessary.
· A minimum grade 12 diploma
