About this role:
We are looking for an experienced Head of Marketing to create, manage, and deliver the marketing strategy for the Pearson School Qualification (International) business. This role will be responsible for all strategic marketing to increase brand awareness and positioning, promote products and services, and grow market share through customer retention and acquisition. The successful candidate will be commercially astute, able to identify opportunities, and be a strong business communicator. You will be a positive professional, with a passion for people, and demonstratable experience of managing and developing a talented marketing team.
This role reports to the Marketing & Sales Director, managing a team consisting of a Senior Marketing manager, three marketing managers, two marketing executives and a strong team of freelancers.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing Strategy
- Working with sales and marketing leadership team, create, develop, and manage the global marketing plan and set key performance indicators to achieve lead targets and sales revenue.
- Support regional growth plans through the development of marketing campaigns and tools that are market leading. Put in place measures and report on ROI.
- Manage the marketing data strategy to ensure clear segmentation and targeting for both acquisition and retention marketing. Act on data, market insight, and competitive positioning to adapt and pivot plans.
- Manage CRM requirements and represent marketing on associated marketing automation projects.
- Ensure sales enablement is an integral part of the marketing function. Work with regional sales to team to ensure they are fully equipped with first class tools and support.
Brand marketing
- Continue to raise Pearson’s brand profile in the international school market, both B2B and B2B2C (and review ongoing the opportunities for B2C). Always ensure our differentiators are current and relevant for the intended audience. Work with global Pearson brand colleagues to make sure the correct brand values and TOV are represented.
- Create the vision for PSQ International in the eyes of the customer and create customer awareness and reach by optimising digital channels such as social media and advertising.
- Oversee the creation and development of product agnostic content marketing that reinforces our thought leadership position.
- Partnership and association marketing including events and awards.
Product Marketing
- Develop and manage retention activities that build order value and loyalty, through marketing support, new commercial models, and network marketing.
- Convert the product roadmap into customer centred solutions, showing an obsession for the customer journey, resulting in the best customer experience.
- Generate quality leads and support pipeline management through all stages of the funnel from awareness, through conversion, and onto renewal. Optimise marketing automation.
- Input into early stages of the product development process, providing marketing plans to go to market and launch new products. Manage a product through the product lifecycle from a marketing perspective.
- Develop expertise in qualification and assessment design, processes, and communications.
Leadership
- Work and influence across a complex matrix organisation,building positive relationships across the business and continuing to raise the profile of PSQ International marketing.
- Manage, develop, and recruit a talented team in digital, brand, channel, product, global and regional marketing. Coach and nurture talent and work with the leadership team on succession planning.
- Identify and foster strategic partnerships with key stakeholders (suppliers, agencies, associations, distributors, school groups).
- Lead and present at a range of meetings and forums, both internally and externally.
- Provide clear performance expectations with regular feedback against set measures.
Experience and skills
- Previous Head of Marketing / Senior leadership experience is essential with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in multi-channel marketing.
- Experience of working in education marketing is essential and experience in an international business is desirable.
- Comfortable communicating and presenting both virtually and face-to-face to a range of audiences, with gravitas.
- Can provide evidence of developing and delivering successful marketing strategies, preferably global.
- Experience developing and implementing digital strategies and campaigns.
- Strong people management skills are essential with recent demonstratable experience of managing and developing talented international marketing teams. Able to engage, motivate and develop strong team culture and values.

Other
- Pearson offer hybrid office/remote working. This is an international role and will require multiple in-person market visits to key regions (Middle East, Europe, Asia).
