MLTC was created by nine First Nations located in north-west Saskatchewan who have constitutionally recognized aboriginal rights and Treaty Rights under Treaties #6, #8 and #10. The primary purpose of MLTC is to serve those First Nations in their aspirations for cultural, economic and political autonomy. As a private sector employer engaged primarily in promoting and serving the interests of the member First Nations, MLTC asserts its right to provide preferential treatment to First Nations people, giving them priority in decisions on employment matters such as hiring, and this can extend to measures such as opening competitions only to First Nations people.

- Preference will be given to qualified First Nations applicants or other Indigenous applicants who self-declare as being a First Nations person or of other Indigenous ancestry.
MLTC Health & Social Development Department is seeking a dynamic, motivated individual to fill the 1-year term position of Good Food Box Coordinator (GFBC). The GFBC will work closely with the nine Meadow Lake First Nations to establish Good Food Box programs in each community. The GFBC will partner with the MLFN’s to find local champions, staff and volunteers to coordinate the delivery of the GFB program. It will be important to adapt the program to suit each communities needs and highlight local food systems in the communities.
Duties (include but not limited to):
- Establish relationships at the community level
- Work with local champions, food growers, hunters and fishermen
- Create a Good Food Box manual
- Work with stores to coordinate food orders/deliveries
- Work with communities to provide educational opportunities around grant/funding opportunities
Qualifications:
Minimum:
· Appropriate combination of education and relevant work experience
Preferred:
· Background working with volunteers would be an asset
· Experience with program planning and evaluations, grant writing, proposals, etc.
Other:
· Knowledge of Indigenous food systems, culture and traditions, or willingness to learn.
· Proficient with computers, i.e., Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
· Excellent public relations skills; verbal & written communication skills; and work ethics.
· Knowledge and understanding of MLTC and First Nation history, culture, and values.
· Willingness to travel and possession of a valid driver’s license.
· Preference will be given to individuals who speak either Cree or Dene.
