Gitxaala Nation (pronounced Kitkatla) is one of Northwestern British Columbia’s longest continuously inhabited Indigenous communities, existing thousands of years prior to modern contact. Today Gitxaala is a successful, progressive indigenous community searching for a qualified and experienced Finance Manager who wants to help us improve the quality of life of our people and our nation.

The position is hybrid remote, located out of our offices in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will oversee a finance department of 4 people who are situated in Kitkatla, B.C. Our main objectives are implementation of a comprehensive Financial Administration By-Law and related systems, investment management policies and procedures, continuous improvement in financial accuracy, completeness, timeliness and efficiency. Gitxaala Nation has a strong balance sheet and competitive compensation. We are presently using SAGE 300.

The successful candidate will have an appropriate combination of both formal accounting education credentials and experience. Salary level is market-based and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

We are seeking a Finance Manager to lead our financial accounting department. A successful candidate for this position will need to be able to interpret accounting principles, develop and update financial policies and procedures and ensure the consistency of all financial reports. The Finance Manager will also need to ensure all company staff are trained in the proper filing methods and procedures.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $68,720.00-$80,565.00 per year
