Reports to the Senior Director, Commercial Finance.
What you will do:
Play a key role in providing analysis and insights that inform strategic decisions and enhance the financial performance of the Transportation, Distribution & Logistics (TDL) team & broader Commercial organization.- Work closely with Transportation Operations & Capital leaders, across all transportation modes, to ensure that the needs of key business stakeholders are being met.
- Lead the annual budget, forecasting, and 5-year planning processes for the TDL department, ensuring all key assumptions and changes are well understood and driven by changing business conditions.
- Deliver comprehensive cost-to-serve analysis and forecasting for all areas of TDL through collaboration with Commercial leads, Business Unit and Corporate FP&A teams to deliver the annual Cost to Serve (CTS) budget and monthly forecasts.
- Support the development and measurement of utilization and performance metrics for TDL.
- Lead various continuous improvement & transformation initiatives, driving efficiency & optimization of Finance processes and process outputs, with the objective of providing timely and valuable service to the business.
- Provide leadership to the TDL Finance team to help drive business decisions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with the Finance Center of Excellence (COE) to understand the financial results, financial statement risk and to assess the impact of financial policy changes.
- Provide financial analysis for strategic initiatives and special projects.
- Communicate company and functional goals, core values, safety practices, and deadlines to team.
- Coach members on achieving goals and developing necessary skills that get results.
- Set clear team goals, evaluating progress along the way, allowing teams to work collaboratively to reach targets.
What you will bring:
Business related University Degree, preferably with a specialization in a Finance or Accounting.- Professional accounting or finance designation with 10 or more years of related experience, with a minimum of five years in a leadership role.
- Previous experience in a planning and forecasting role considered an asset.
- Solid understanding of Nutrien’s business drivers and operating activities considered an asset.
- The ability to interface with various levels of management in a multi-task, deadline orientated, team environment.
- Strong leadership, analytical, written, and verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Experience in forecast modeling through systems and Excel.
- Strong Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, proficiency in Excel a must.
- Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with other in a proactive, positive and constructive manner.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Self-starting attitude with a high energy level, demonstrated success in a fast-paced, and deadline driven environment.
- Systems oriented thinking.
- Ability to work with a variety of technological tools in an efficient manner.
- Sound, professional judgment and subject matter expertise in relevant accounting and finance matters.
- Highly detail oriented.
