About the team
You will be joining the Market Operations, Applications Services agile teams comprised of dedicated and passionate developers, testers and business analysts who are directly involved with the Bank's of Canada’s role in the Financial Markets. It is mainly through the financial markets that the Bank's key policy rate influences interest rates and the exchange rate. This, in turn, helps the Bank achieve its monetary policy objectives.

What you will do
You will provide development & support expertise within an agile scrum team and support the Financial Markets portfolio in creating and maintaining mission critical processes related to auctions and other applications in a Java & DevOps environment.

In addition, you will:

• Engage in design and delivery complex work items for mission critical applications, which follow microservices architecture
• Assist with the resolution of complex operational problems including support rotations
• Contribute to a learning and collaborative environment by sharing knowledge and expertise

What you need to succeed
You are a team player, capable of collaborating within an agile team and providing intellectual leadership by developing new knowledge, contributing expertise and sharing insights.

You have the following skills:

• Experience with Java application development components including Spring framework
• Experience with front end technologies and web application framework such as Angular, Rest protocol, Swagger, html

Nice to have

• Knowledge of API based application development and back end integration testing
• Knowledge of QA methods, Test Driven Development (TDD) and tools such as Gherkin and Mockito
• Knowledge of DevOps and infrastructure components including RedHat Openshift/Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitOps(ArgoCD), Git, Linux

Your education and experience
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in computer science, software development or a relevant field and a minimum of 4 years of experience in applications development and systems integration

Hybrid Work Model #LI-Hybrid

The Bank is conducting a trial of a hybrid working model which provides employees with the flexibility to telework for significant portions of each month. During the trial, employees will be expected to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person and to build connections with colleagues. For the majority of employees, it is expected that onsite time will range from 5 to 10 days per month, depending on your role. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

  Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $83,500 to $98,235 (job grade 16)
• Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay for successfully meeting (5 to 7% of your base salary) or for exceeding expectations (10% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
