Position Summary The Detailing Supervisor is responsible for the day to day management of detailing services for the organization. The successful incumbent will be a key member of the leadership team and is responsible for resource planning, assigning work and ensuring that all jobs are properly detailed and coordinated with customers. Key responsibilities:

  • Assign all detailing work to an appropriate detailer so that detailing can be done efficiently and in accordance with customers' delivery needs.
  • Oversee the productivity and work quality of the detailers to ensure efficiency and accuracy
  • Manage the assignment of detailing to outside vendors to ensure high quality and cost effective solutions for the business
  • Review all extras and changes to contracts being detailed in house or by outside vendors; coordinate with sales personnel so that customers are properly advised and billed in accordance with such changes.
  • Participate in project meetings as required to support existing and new projects; may attend kick of meetings and/or ensure close out meeting
  • Respond to customer concerns and assist in resolving any issues associated with project or material (short ship, placing errors etc.)
  • Review and approve all invoices from vendors as required.
  • Complete year end performance reviews for team; provide regular feedback, coaching and mentoring to foster development across team
  • Recommend any changes to headcount in order to meet needs of the business. Manage the recruitment, hiring, orientation and training of new detailer employees and support personnel
  • Produce reports as requested by management
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of construction industry standards (RSIC/ASI)
  • May detail certain projects to support business needs or during peak periods as required

Education / Experience

  • College diploma in civil engineering with a preference for candidates that have worked in construction, rebar fabrication industry
  • Completion of a certificate or training in MicroStations
  • Minimum of 5 years experience reviewing, creating and updating drawings combined with 3 years of management experience
  • Preference to candidates who have completed detailing certification through RSIC
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction industry standards (RSIC/ASI)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in Construction (civil, concrete) field preferred; experience with aSa would be an asset
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable communicating at multiple levels in an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities concurrently
  • High attention to detail with strong mechanical, numerical aptitude
  • Basic knowledge of Construction law would be considered an asset
