QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY:
- Dental Hygienist License in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario
- Minimum 2 years experience within relative setting
- Professional Liability Insurance
SKILLS & ABILITY:
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft office applications, software applications.
- Ability to think critically and multitask in a high-pressure situation.
- Ability to organize and manage an office setting and work with all.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs according to the Standards of Professional Practice set out by the Provincial College of Dental Hygienists of and in compliance with the policies, procedures and standards of the facility
- Accepts clinical responsibility and professional accountability for the care delivered to assigned patients.
- Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team, fulfilling responsibilities as a member of the hygienist discipline.
- Complies with The Ethical Framework for Dental Hygienists
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Examining teeth and gums for signs of oral disease.
- Deep cleaning and scaling teeth, as well as tooth polishing.
- Applying fluoride treatments.
- Reviewing oral health history and dental charts.
- Performing non-surgical gum treatments such as root planing.
- Taking impressions for dental casts
- Updating dental health file
- Advising the dentist on specific dental concerns
- Cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining the dental tools and equipment u
- Providing patients with education, advice, and information about maintaining good oral hygiene
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Must comply with:
- Human Resource, Corporation, and Department Policies
- Must maintain Dental Hygienist class license with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario
- Must have Personal Liability Protection
