Duties and Responsibilities


Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Customer Service - Revenue the successful candidate will be an integral member of the Customer Service team. Responsibilities include:


  • Process and maintain informational changes to the Tax account provided by Teranet, Municipal Property Assessment Corporation and banks while ensuring integrity of the tax system is maintained.
  • Research and respond to inquiries from taxpayers, lawyers, mortgagees and agents received through various media such as email and INFOR. Process tax certificate, local improvement, statement, duplicate bill and receipt requests received at the counter and ensure appropriate fees are received and deposited.
  • Process various transactions received at Cashiers or through inter-office and regular mail from all departments including cheque and credit card payments.
  • Balance transactions for daily deposit and prepare cash summary sheets.

Note: Candidate will be required to rotate between Office duties, Cashiers and working remotely. Shift hours rotate between start time of 8:00 a.m. and end time of 5:00 p.m. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications


  • Post-secondary education with a focus on accounting, business or public administration.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in municipal tax or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Sound knowledge of the TXM Tax Manager system.
  • Successful completion of or enrolment in the Municipal Tax Administration Program is an asset.
  • Aptitude for figures and the ability to carry out tax calculations; excellent data entry and organizational skills are required.
  • Cashiering experience is an asset.
  • Ability to decipher and analyze requests, investigate property tax accounts and solve complex problems using analytical thought process required.
  • Flexibility for shifts and understanding of the urgency of certain duties is also required to ensure daily tasks are completed.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with the public on an ongoing basis and work well under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 49,788.00 - $ 66,385.00
