Job Description
Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager for Ontario, this role will be a leading driver for Food Equipment Group product lines.
This highly-visible and hands-on cooking, training and sales position will work closely with the Sales and Marketing Teams as well as with dealers, sales representatives and end-users to drive ITW FEG product line sales while supporting new product development and launch efforts through product testing and evaluation, customer support, recipe creation and cooking / product demonstrations.
The Culinary Specialist will also lead hands-on cooking labs/COMBI cook live demo’s in Hobart Canada test kitchens / dealer showrooms featuring a line-up of Vulcan’s latest Cooking technology, Hobart’s Food preparation & Warewash solutions, and Traulsen Refrigeration innovations as part of regular dealer trainings and classes.
By developing a strong understanding of the Vulcan TCM Combi Oven line and other products as well knowing first-hand exactly how each piece operates and performs, the Culinary Specialist will be uniquely qualified to present product options to corporate chefs, foodservice directors, retail and chain operators, independent restaurateurs, and high-profile decision makers.
Additional responsibilities include meal planning and preparation for dealer training events, participation in regional and national tradeshows including live cooking and product demonstrations, presentations at conferences and the development of the Vulcan/Hobart/Traulsen network of culinary resources to support new product development and testing, recipe development and field events.
The Culinary Specialist must adhere to accepted food safety standards and should establish a formal Hobart Canada code of conduct while in a test / training kitchen environment or live customer kitchen.
Requirements:
- 10 Years food preparation and menu development experience in a full-service restaurant, corporate kitchen, institutional foodservice operation or as an instructor of culinary arts.
- College culinary or chef diploma, Red-Seal certified
- College or University Business or Marketing degree/diploma or a related field or equivalent experience
- Work from Hobart Canada Headquarters and service branch/test kitchen, Greater Toronto Area as well as any regional Hobart Branches and dealer branches across Ontario.
- Experience working in Kitchen, office and lab environments
- Will be required to travel 50 % of the time
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (word, power point, excel).
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in CRM management, with the ability to maintain existing customer profiles and add as required.
- Understanding of technical and mechanical concepts of cooking equipment.
- Food preparation, menu planning and recipe creation experience
- Strong understanding of the science behind food preparation and cooking
- Familiar with kitchen operations, design, and equipment selection
- Knowledge of combi oven technology including recipe programming
- Hands-on experience with other major types of cooking equipment
- Past success teaching and training others with food equipment operation
- Well-versed in kitchen / food preparation safety and sanitation
- Outgoing personality and professional nature to instill confidence in others
- Confident presenter with a lively and engaging style fluent in PowerPoint usage
- Capable of using Excel spreadsheets to review data and to perform analysis
- Must be able to work independently in a team environment with multiple priorities
Key responsibilities include:
- Work with the Ontario Sales Team to drive Food Equipment Group product line sales, including new and existing products, through product and cooking demonstrations and training, application reviews, site visits, recipe evaluation and recipe programming while being a highly-visible and engaged member of the selling organization.
- Lead Ontario cooking demonstrations and trainings at Hobart Canada test kitchens and Dealer showrooms provincially involving the Hobart Sales Management Team, sales reps, dealers and end-users.
- Conduct cooking demonstrations (and any other pertinent ITW FEG Product) in the field including testing, trials and training events at rep test kitchens, corporate test kitchens and at individual sites by working closely with decision makers and influencers at all levels to plan and conduct such events as necessary to grow ITW FEG product line sales.
- Support internal and remote cooking demonstrations for other product lines.
- Coordinate and conduct live cooking demonstrations as part of national trade shows such as RC Show and any other regional trade shows while drawing on personal network of culinary resources to support larger events.
- Increase kitchen safety awareness inside the ITW Food Equipment Group organization to ensure the safety of our employees and guests as they participate in live cooking events and field trials at customer locations.
- Work with ITW Food Equipment Group Sales and Marketing Teams to create new and updated promotional content based on internal and field kitchen activity including web site content, testimonials, Instagram posts, advertisements and brochures
