The Company:
Our client is a leader in the mining industry. Due to growth, they are looking to hire a Cost Analyst to support Operations Managers at site. Note that this role is on a 3X3 rotation basis . The Cost Analyst will be required to travel to site where they will work for 3 weeks at a time on an ongoing basis. However, after their 3 weeks at site, they will travel back home where they will not work for this entire time. Hence, the routine will be "3 weeks working at site, 3 weeks at home with paid time off, 3 weeks at site, etc."
The Role:
Reporting to the Cost Control Manager, the Cost Analyst will work in collaboration with the Operations Management Team to track and analyze operational costs. The Cost Analyst achieves this by using standard site policies and procedures while at times having to develop their own procedures. This role ensures awareness of costs/spending in the operations department which leads to proper planning, budgeting, and cost reductions. The Cost Analyst will develop and implement processes to track costs and perform variance analysis. The Cost Analyst also creates budgets and plans in collaboration with Operations Managers.
What You bring to the Role:
To be considered for this role, you must have 3+ years in a Finance role with similar cost analysis duties. A university degree in Business Administration or Accounting is required. The ideal candidate possesses advanced Excel skills and is adept with financial modelling and advanced functions including macros. Experience with large ERP systems such as SAP is preferred. You must also be willing to work as per the required 3X3 rotation on an ongoing long term basis.

Set up Fuel accounting system to accurately track fuel costs. Analyse results of system
Assist managers in accounting of operating costs versus capital costs
Facilitate monthly and weekly cost reviews with managers
Provide Finance team inputs for reporting during month end
