The primary function of the Controller is to manage the finance and accounting operations of the company. Your key responsibilities, but not limited to, are production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. In addition, the Controller is responsible for cash, risk and change management on projects. This position plays an integral leadership role within the organization and will work closely with the management team to advice, guide and further all company projects and goals. This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and produce all weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports for all departments within the organization
  • Manage completion of financial year-end schedules and tasks
  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and report system ensuring compliance with appropriate standards and regulation requirements
  • Establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring and reporting standard
  • Review cash position and cash forecast on regular basis
  • Administration of Deltek Ajera
  • Create and implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all departments, as required
  • Oversee and lead all accounting operations for the company
  • Analyze cost efficiencies within the organization
  • Propose consistent improvements to existing procedures
  • Ensure seamless implementation and execution of the accounting processes
  • Provide leadership and direction to deliver efficient and effective performance of the accounting team
  • Provide financial advice and guidance to the management team to execute company projects
  • Assist with any miscellaneous payroll tasks
  • Additional tasks as required

What You Offer SynergyAspen

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/Finance; CPA designation or working towards
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Controller, or a comparable role
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a senior level management role
  • Experience collaborating with different departments to execute and complete projects
  • Experience with project accounting and working with the Operations department
  • Experience working in the consulting industry is an asset
  • Experience leading and mentoring junior accountants
  • Tech-savvy and experience working with Detek Ajera software or ERP software
  • Strong interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to prioritize and multi-task
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Office, and Teams and Android / IOS
  • Commitment to safety
