Riverview Home Corporation is a non-profit corporation providing care and support to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities, as well as long term mental illness. Riverview Home Corporation is currently accepting resumes for a Casual General Worker.

Position Scope

General Workers are responsible for providing support to the residents at mealtime which includes serving residents their meal & monitoring the dining room during mealtime. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to portioning desserts, operating a High Temperature dishwasher, washing pots & pans, sweeping & scrubbing floors & maintaining the general cleanliness of the dietary department.

General Workers will be given the opportunity to work additional shifts in in the Environmental Services Department which involves working in the laundry or as a housekeeper in the resident’s specific living environment.

Qualifications

• Grade 12, GED certificate or equivalence as assessed by the employer
• Training will be provided to successful candidates during the probationary period.
• Core Competencies such as a valid Food Safety Training Certificate will be considered an asset.
• Experience working with persons who have diverse abilities will be considered an asset.

Wages

• · General Worker Rate for the first 55 shifts $16.41 per hour
• · Regular rate after a successful probation $16.69 per hour
• · Weekend premiums are an additional $2.25 per hour
• · Holidays - 1½ times regular rate of pay

Additional Requirements

• Prospective employees must be available to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be available to work on short notice when required.
• Must work collaboratively with staff in supporting departments throughout the building.
• Able to work independently and as a part of a team.
• Demonstrate strong organizational and judgement skills.
• A criminal record check will be required.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual
Part-time hours: 20 per week

Salary: From $16.41 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
