Business Intelligence Analyst Job at VetStrategy
The Role
The Business Intelligence Analyst will support various stakeholders in making data driven decisions through analyzing large sets of data and presenting actionable insights to help better understand operational performance. This role will require close collaboration with the field operations team and home office operations team to develop and create operational metrics and dashboards using business intelligence tools (PowerBi) by combining data from various sources.
The Business Intelligence Analyst will be part of the VetStrategy operations team whose main purpose is supporting more than 200+ veterinary practices across Canada. This position will require a self-starter with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop dashboards and various ad-hoc reporting required for the operational field team to make more informed and data driven decisions
- Work collaboratively with various stakeholders to define meaningful and actionable KPIs to measure operational performance and assess the ongoing health of clinics along a number of dimensions - e.g. patient care standards, client growth and satisfaction, and financial performance
- Proactively spot trends and correlations through analyzing and combining various data sources
- Extract and organize data to support home office initiatives such as pricing compliance work, ecommerce platform sales, and inventory management
- Identify key areas of risk and opportunity, communicating these effectively to the operations team and clinic partners and helping drive actionable recommendations in straightforward and simple language
- Recommend improvements to streamline processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, usability, and value
- Ensure successful end-to-end development and adoption of various reports and dashboards provided to stakeholders through education and training on how to use them and monitoring of overall usage
- Synthesize and present weekly/monthly operational performance updates to field team and senior management
- Assist in ad-hoc enquiries and projects as needed
Background, Experience and Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience working in similar analytical role
- Undergraduate degree in related field - business, engineering, computer science
- Detailed knowledge of BI functions such as analytics, data modeling, data mining, reporting and data cleansing
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, along with various BI and analytical tools, specifically Microsoft Power BI (Power Query, DAX, Power Bi Services)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and using Cloud Functions and Cloud Databases
- Familiar with SQL stored procedures and functions
- Able to deal with changing priorities and thrive under pressure in a fast paced and high growth environment
- Adaptability; able to learn new skills quickly and manage multiple tasks
- Motivated by challenging situations, and are able to work independently and manage your workload efficiently
- Team Player; effective in working with various internal and external stakeholder
- Comfortable in a pet friendly workplace
Nice to Have Skills
- Working knowledge of C# and building ETL processes in C#
- Working Knowledge of Python and Pandas
- Previous experience using API’s
